Before you decide to trust us to build your site I think it's important for you to know a little bit about who we are.

Beacon Designs is a husband and wife team who started designing web sites 8 years ago. I, Damien, do the coding and setup while my wife Sinead deals with the graphic designing - but for the last 4 years we've taken a break from designing other peoples sites to concentrate on a couple of web projects of our own.

Whilst pregnant Sinead had trouble finding decent maternity clothes, and decided we should build a maternity fashion site of our own. We did this and called it Funkybump Maternity, and now we've established it as one of the largest maternity fashion sites in Europe. As the site grew I quickly realised that the structure of the site and flexibilty were hugely important, because the better your web system is the less time you need to spend looking after it. This is what led me to Joomla, and now that Funkybump is taking care of itself I've decided to go back to desiging and bring all I've learned with me.

Lots of designers build a website and then just move straight to the next, I know because I used to be one of them. They deliver good products but with no support but now, after many years building and perfecting Funkybump, I know that support is just as vital as a working site. I would go so far as to say that it's very hard to survive without the necessary support. Anyone who has read a book or contributed to a blog has an answer, but I've had to ask myself on many occasion whether some of the so-called experts have not just talked the talk but also walked the walk. I know I can say for certain that we have and are continuing to do so!

In the process of building Funkybump I've become an expert in the fields for Search Engine Optimisation (at the time of writing we rank above New Look, Asos and most of the other top retailers in our sector), customer segmentation, analytics, adwords, split testing - the list goes on. The important thing to remember is that we've gained experience through the success of our own business and not someone else's. I want to share these skills with our customers and as this site grows I plan to add a Web Success University which all of our clients can log-in to and it will incorporate how-to guides, as well as containing answers to some of the most important questions about building a successful internet business.

Running an internet business has completely changed our lives and hopefully, with our guidance, it can do the same for you.
